Find Motherboard Model and BIOS Version with CPU-Z
Quick answer: Use the Mainboard tab in CPU-Z to identify a Windows PC motherboard and verify firmware details safely.
Open the Mainboard tab
In CPU-Z for Windows choose Mainboard. Record Manufacturer, Model, Chipset and BIOS Brand, Version and Date when populated. OEM systems may display a system-board identifier rather than a consumer retail board name.
Cross-check the system model
Open Windows System Information (msinfo32) and compare BaseBoard Manufacturer, BaseBoard Product and BIOS Version/Date. If the values disagree, use the PC manufacturer’s service information for the exact machine model or serial.
Do not flash firmware based on one string
A closely named motherboard model can have multiple revisions and incompatible firmware files. Confirm the board revision and matching official support page before even considering a BIOS update; interruptions during firmware flashing can make a device unbootable.
What to do with an incomplete result
A blank field may be caused by firmware tables or system vendor choices. CPU-Z cannot recover data that the firmware does not expose. The physical model label or vendor service documentation can be more reliable.
